This purchase is for a heavy duty skid plate , designed to minimize damage and protect your bike from dirt, mud, and other debris. The skid plate is CNC cut from a solid 4mm sheet of aircraft grade aluminum. The plate is then tig welded and finished with black powder coating to increase durability. Rest assured that you are getting the best material commercially available.

We understand that riders want protection for both on/off the road. Our skid plates were designed to take the beatings of your everyday riding. Our skid plates are mounted at two locations (front, back). The front brackets mount to the engine mount. The rear brackets uses an 8mm bolt. The mounting locations of a skid plate play a critical role in how much it can minimize damage and protect. We did not want to mount anything on the engine cover or stator as that would more likely cause more problems than prevent. Other skid plates that mount on the covers is trusting the integrity of the plate on 6mm bolts that are connected directly to the engine covers. Major impacts or accident will rip and crack that cover or bolt.

Skid plate is very strong. I have slid off a few curbs that I think would have damaged the engine. I used the supplied bolt and spacer as per the instructions for the shifter, it fit loosely and after 400 miles got worse. I simply replaced it with the original shoulder bolt, and all is well. Skid plate will lower your ground clearance about a half inch or a little more. If you are thinking you might like it you definitely will. It's a great part, your x needs it. Thank you t-rex for creating this part.

Wow...what a skid plate.  It is built like a tank but not too heavy.  They left a nice window to change the oil.  It went on per the instructions but I did watch the video to help (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY1UWM7I4mA).

Have not tested it off road but it is built solid with good connections...I expect no troubles...2020 Honda CB500X ABS.
