Great hand guards!
These hand guards are a huge improvement over the factory plastic covers. Installation took a bit of figuring out but basically you just install the handlebar portion loosely at first and then attach them to the end of the handlebars with the new end pieces and snug everything up. DON'T FORGET THE THREADLOCKER!
T-rex Hand Guards for KLR650
These are great looking hand-guards and are well engineered. They worked great on the stock KLR handlebars, but when I upgraded to a 1 1/8 bar they revealed some problems. The inboard mount goes between the switch pod and the mirror mount. Because of this (with 1 1/8 bars that are almost always 1 inch narrower than the stock bars) it pushes the mirror mount (that also has the perches for the clutch and brake) onto the bend of the bar which throws off the alignment of the levers when actuated. I'm afraid my only recourse is to ditch the T-rex guards and get actual Barkbusters that have a bar-mount that's farther inboard and does not push the mirror/perch onto the bend of the bar.
T-Rex does it right.
These hand guards look clean like factory, install easily and will definitely keep your hands safe. Everything T-Rex makes is ridiculously strong, with a factory look, fit and finish. All T-Rex accessories look and work incredibly well together. Great products, great customer service to back them up and a Work / Business ethic which is as unmatched as their products.Go with T-Rex , or go home.
