This purchase is for one skid plate for the Suzuki V-Strom 650, designed to minimize damage and protect your bike from dirt, mud, and other debris. The skid plate is CNC cut from a solid 4mm sheet of aircraft grade aluminum. The plate is then tig welded and finished with black powder coating to increase durability. Rest assured that you are getting the best material commercially available.

We understand that riders want protection for both on/off the road. Our skid plates were designed to take the beatings of your everyday riding. Our skid plates are mounted at two locations (front, back). The front brackets mount to the engine mount using a 12mm crossbar. The rear uses an 8mm bolt that is mounted to the center stand mount. The mounting locations of a skid plate play a critical role in how much it can minimize damage and protect. We did not want to mount anything on the engine cover or stator as that would more likely cause more problems than prevent. Other skid plates that mount on the covers is trusting the integrity of the plate on 6mm bolts that are connected directly to the engine covers. Major impacts or accident will rip and crack that cover or bolt.

Firstly,  This skid plate is HEAVY DUTY and the fabrication, craftsmanship, fit and finish is superior over other skid plates that I have seen on the market.  This plate bolts directly to the frame of the bike with all hardware supplied with the kit.  The install was a little tricky.  The installation instructions are a bit vague.  No problem...  Just go to Youtube and check out T-Rex video on how to install skid plate on a Suzuki VStrom and BAM!!  Had it bolted on in about 45 minutes with absolutely no issues or concerns.  If you are looking for a reliable, tough looking, high quality, Heavy Duty, rock solid skid plate for your Strom?   BUY THIS PLATE!!! You wont regret it!!  The price point is also a huge value compared to other plates on the market.

That skid plate is attached to the bike frame, not the engine casing. It is therefore much stronger. I just experienced hitting a rock pretty hard at the bottom of a deep puddle while riding in the Ozarks National Forest. It knocks me off the bike but no serious damage, thanks to the skid plate
